Croatia Introduces New Digital Nomad Visa

Foreign nationals can now remain in Croatia for up to one year on a temporary stay permit. The new visa allows individuals to reside and work remotely from Croatia without requiring the typical company sponsorship.

Given the escalation in the trend for professionals to work remotely due to COVID-19, this is a positive development for those seeking to work from Croatia. The temporary stay permit also gives Croatia the ability to attract a new set of foreign workers who can legally remain on a “long-term visitor” basis and contribute to local economic growth.

Applicants will be required to provide proof of health insurance and police clearance certificates among other documents for the temporary stay permit request.

The new visa provides applicants with a route that was previously unregulated in Croatian immigration law, as all other permits had required the sponsorship of a local employer.
