Beginning January 2021, the following salary threshold changes will apply to foreign nationals submitting new applications and extensions to the Immigration Authorities (IND) in The Netherlands:
- The monthly gross salary threshold for applicants aged 30 years and older is currently set at €4,612 excluding holiday allowance, and will be increased to €4,752
- The monthly gross salary threshold for applicants younger than 30 years is currently set at €3,381 excluding holiday allowance, and will be increased to €3,484
- The monthly gross salary threshold for graduates from a higher Dutch educational institution, or from an international educational institution listed in the top 200 of one of the ranking lists, who are employed within three years after graduation is currently set at €2,423 excluding holiday allowance, and will be increased to €2,497
- The monthly gross salary threshold for Blue Card applications is currently set at €5,403 excluding holiday allowance and will be increased to €5,567.
Employers of foreign nationals in the Netherlands should note that salaries should meet these levels and be calculated on a gross monthly basis, excluding holiday. Furthermore, they need to be paid directly into the bank account of the employee. Allowances can only be included in the salary calculations if they are specified, guaranteed, and received as a monthly monetary payment.
